The Royal Thai Embassy in Yangon, Myanmar

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, discussing the Royal Thai Embassy in Yangon, Myanmar. It is sometimes referred to as Rangoon, Burma but Yangon, Myanmar is the official name of the country. You sometimes see maps and things out here, documentation which refers to it as Burma but it is Myanmar.

The address of the Thai Embassy in Yangon Myanmar is No. 94, Pyay Road, Dagon Township Yangon, the Republic of The Union of Myanmar.

The thing to understand, I am kind of making these videos for prospective Visa runners; folks who are looking to get a visa from that particular Embassy. If you are looking to go to that Embassy to obtain a Visa, it is a good idea to understand that if you have done a visa run before at a different Consulate or Embassy not all Consulates and Embassies do things the same way. The very nature of the plenary power vested in the Officials of the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs that are tasked with adjudicating visa applications at Thai Consulates and Embassies abroad, the very nature of that authority is very fluid. They are making findings of fact and conclusions of law on a case-by-case basis and their factual discretion is quite wide. They have it a great deal of latitude in making those determinations. Couple that with the fact that there is a great deal of administrative discretion granted to these Officers at Thai Embassies and Consulates outside of Thailand to determine how best to efficiently process Visa applications and you have a set of circumstances wherein, although the actual body of Thai Immigration law is quite uniform, the actual practice of obtaining a Visa at for example the Thai Embassy in Myanmar, the actual practice of doing that may different greatly from for example obtaining a Thai Visa at the Thai Embassy in Phnom Penh or the Thai Embassy in Vientiane, Laos for example. It may vary and it may vary based on the officer you are dealing with on any given day.

That being stated, all this discretion put aside, there are certain aspects of this in the broad strokes that are going to be substantially similar from post to post throughout the region, but there are certain peccadilloes if you will that will differ from post to post.

For those who are unsure of how to deal with a visa application through the Thai Embassy in Myanmar, it may not be a terrible idea to contact a legal professional in order to gain some insight and guidance in processing a Thai Visa application through that post.
