10 Year Thai Visas for Condo Owners?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing 10-year visas in the context of those who purchase condos here in the Kingdom of Thailand.

As noted in videos I made contemporaneously with this one, there is a push by various interest groups here in Thailand to spur not only tourism and the local economy by bringing in foreign tourists and retirees, but also to spur the property market especially in the realm of Condos with respect to trying to bring in more foreign owners or more interest from the foreign community to come and buy condos here in Thailand. As noted in prior videos and in the article I am going to quote here momentarily, those folks who are looking to buy condos, currently if you meet the 10 million Baht threshold it may be possible to get a Visa based on Thai Condo ownership. But interest groups here in Thailand are attempting to get the Government to pass through resolutions that would allow for Thai condo ownership to confer various types of long stay visas; there is one that has been noted between 3 and 5 million Baht value of a condo could get you 5 years but also 10 years may be possible for a higher value.

Quoting directly from an article in the Nation, nationthailand.com, the article is titled: Long Stay Visas Proposed for Foreigners Who Buy 3 Million Baht Condos. Quoting directly: "Meanwhile buyers of 5 to 10 million Baht condos would get 10 year visas." and they would get this under a proposed plan. We have yet to actually see this be promulgated and it remains to be seen whether or not it will be promulgated although as noted in other videos I have made contemporaneously with this one, I think that yes something is going to come out of this. Exactly what it is going to end up looking like remains to be seen. Whether it ends up in this tiered system or not or they could just say “yeah we are going to drop down the threshold from 10 to 8 or 10 to 7 or 5 or whatever”. I do think that we are probably going to see some kind of new initiative to Thai longer stay visas with property ownership here in the Kingdom of Thailand.
