24/7 "AI Command Centre" at Thai Immigration?
Transcript of the above video:
As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing, well an AI Command Center that apparently is going to be going 24/7 associated with Immigration. Let me just jump in here. I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the Thai Examiner, that is thaiexaminer.com, the article is titled: Songkran boost of Tourist Police at Suvarnabhumi Airport to help new arrivals with safety and support. Quoting directly: "Tourist Police surge at Suvarnabhumi Airport for Songkran 2026 as the airport handles 1.8 million passengers and 1,100 daily flights, with an AI Command Center, 24/7 monitoring, interpreters and increased patrols deployed. App recommended for all foreign tourist arrivals." Quoting further: "Thailand has deployed enhanced security and outreach to assist foreign tourists and travellers through Suvarnabhumi Airport during Songkran", and then quoting further: "Airport readiness plan forecasts 1.8 million passengers and 1,100 daily flights, during the Songkran period". And this was the important thing to me. It's like this AI rollout is being integrated into the pre-existing enforcement apparatus in such a way that I think it's going to have profound implications long-term. Quoting directly: "At the same time, an operation Command Centre has been activated. The Centre integrates multiple agencies into a single coordination system. These include Immigration, Customs, airport operations, and security units. Moreover, the system operates continuously on a 24-hour cycle. Furthermore, real-time monitoring tracks passenger movements across terminals. In addition, Artificial Intelligence supports surveillance through camera identification systems. Consequently, security teams can respond quickly to operational changes. This integration combines human and automated monitoring systems. Meanwhile, airport officials addressed congested expectations during peak periods. They stated that queuing is unavoidable during festival travel surges. Moreover, they explained that large aircraft arrivals intensify passenger loads. For instance, an A380 arrival can release up to 700 passengers within an hour. However, Immigration counters are fully staffed during peak operations. Additionally, Auto Gate Systems process Thai Nationals to reduce manual queues." And as we discussed in another video, they say they are rolling out more of the automated over time. I have got to be honest with you though, I kind of prefer the human, just because as I have talked about, they kind of want to create these like man trap things where you walk into it and you are like sort of trapped in there and I think eventually they want to like cross reference your bank records and your taxes and things in order to say that "hey, you owe us some money on the way out the door." I've discussed that; it seemed like that was what they were rolling out. Say whatever you will about Anutin, the current Prime Minister, when he was Interior Minister, he rolled out the Thailand Digital Arrival Card, I think in order to forestall the rolling out of that other system; so tip of the hat to him. Quoting further: "Consequently, passenger flow continues even during high-density arrivals. Officials described conditions as crowded but continuously moving."
So on the side of the whole like herding people through there, that sort of is what it is. I just thought it's important note that this AI system has come online. It’s like Skynet. “It's come online, it has become self-aware.” Yeah, I might use this as a thumbnail from Terminator 3 where Terminator was talking about "Skynet comes online at this exact date and time". Seeing this AI roll out in this coordinated Command Centre, again, "Immigration, Customs, airport operation, and security units", we just did a video recently where we were talking about CCTV outside picked up somebody who was walking along and facial recognition with AI cross referenced that person and found out they were on overstay; the cops basically just walked outside, detained the person and that person presumably will be deported and probably blacklisted for five years. The point I am trying to make it this is major. It's changing fundamentally the way Immigration is processed. Again it's done in such a way that it's coordinating with AI; it's operating 24/7. It is what it is. I have plenty of Orwellian adjectives I could use to describe some of this, but at the end of the day it is Thailand's sovereign prerogative to maintain her own immigration checkpoints, I totally understand that. But this will change things. As time goes on, Immigration matters will probably get more efficient and those who are having problems with immigration stuff or who are not in line with Immigration protocols may find themselves having a bad time.
So the best thing to take away from this video is notwithstanding it is interesting that they are improving the tech associated with immigration enforcement, the important thing to remember is to keep oneself in lawful status while one is in the Kingdom of Thailand.
