90 Day Reporting And Passport Expiration In Thailand
Transcript of the above video:
We have seen a lot of videos lately regarding 90-day reporting, TM30. I have seen, I have done, I guess I have seen my own videos a little bit when I see them go up from time to time, but we have done a number of videos on those topics namely again TM30, 90-day reporting.
Specifically this video pertains to 90-day reporting and what happens if your passport expires in the interim. I got an email from someone who was a UK passport holder and they noted that the UK is taking an inordinate amount of time in some cases to get a new passport re-issued. That can then put someone into a quandary with regard to dealing with things like 90-day reporting or even for that matter Visa Extension, Visa Conversion, even TM30 I guess could be an issue when you are dealing with passport expiration. But the best way that I can think of to deal with that which one, yes you could have a fine imposed if you don't get your 90-day reporting done; you could also maybe have problems if you are dealing with a subsequent extension or something. The way to deal with this is early and often. So what I would say is look if you have got an issue with regard to passport expiration, I would then do a 90-day report and then immediately file for your new passport so presumably it comes back before the next 90-day interval. That to my mind is probably the best way to deal with that.
Now that said all issues pertaining to passport expiration and how that interacts with Thai Immigration none of them are easy to deal with, they are all nettlesome. So honestly if you really are finding yourself in a bit of a bind with respect to how to deal with 90-day reporting, how to get your passport renewed and deal with all that sort of in one smooth motion if you will, it may not be a terrible idea to contact a legal professional, gain some insight and guidance into how best to proceed.
