"Actual Implementation" of Thai Immigration Law?
Transcript of the above video:
As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing the issue of actual implementation of Thai Immigration Law. Unfortunately, the ether of the internet has just been filled with a lot of quite honestly and for lack of a better term, idiocy from folks out there talking completely out of school and without any real knowledge of how the Thai Immigration System works. In fact, a lot of these people haven't even been in Thailand very long, so I don't really know why they are trying to talk as if they're sort of an expert on Thai Immigration. It doesn't help either that there have been a lot of folks from Government Organizations going around saying things and quite honestly, they are not going to be the ones that are going to deal with the “actual” implementation of Thai Immigration Law.
I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the Pattaya Mail, that's pattayamail.com, the article is titled: Thai Government tweaks guidelines on latest visas. Again things like the changes to the Exemption, the creation of this Electronic Travel Authorization System which I am making a video contemporaneously with this one going deep into that issue and then this new Destination Thailand Visa which everybody came out and said a million things about that are turning out to not be particularly true or it's not going to be exactly as it was originally told. Again we're dealing with how this is actually going to work out and the actual implementation remains to be seen or I should say the information about actual implementation remains to be seen. Quoting directly: "The Visa overhaul also gives an opportunity to the Immigration Bureau to influence the upcoming bureaucracy. There are so many agencies involved in publicity about visas," and that's the key term - that is well put in Pattaya Mail - the publicity. There's been all kinds of talk and publicity about this but these aren't the actual agencies that are going to deal with Immigration Law when the rubber hits the road. Let me quote that again: "There are so many agencies involved in the publicity about visas - Tourist Authority of Thailand, Board of Investment, the Cabinet, Department of Labour etc. - that it's often forgotten that the actual implementation is performed by Immigration Officers at airports and borders." Also here in Thailand at Immigration Offices - don't leave that out. "So far, the Bureau has been strictly silent."
And that's why I say it has been idiotic to see the ether of the internet filled up with all of this hot air associated with how Thai Visas are going to work, how this Destination Thailand Visa is going to work with regard to internally here in Thailand and at the borders and things like that, even how the Visa Exemption is going to work, and the Electronic Travel Authorization is going to work. Again the fact of the matter is we don't know, we don't have all the data points regarding how this is exactly going to play out. That being stated, we will continue to keep you updated on this channel as the situation evolves.
