Amidst the Cacophony, Is Retirement in Thailand Worth It?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we're asking the question, is retirement in Thailand worth it amidst the cacophony. What are we talking about with the cacophony?

I have to imagine retiree ‘expatland’, much like back in the buzzing days of "Big Joke" scrutinizing Retirement Visa Financial Accounts is kind of abuzz with a lot of consternation right now. The question posed by many outsiders is probably is Thailand worth it. As I expect, a number of retirees can comment in this video, actually living here is a totally different thing as an experience than if you just watch like this channel, and you were like, "oh it must be weird living there; the rules and dah, dah, dah." No this is a very hyper-specific channel that talks about these issues in an in-depth way, okay. On a day-to-day basis, a change in Thai Tax policy is not going to have a massive overarching set of implications on folks that are retired here in Thailand.

Now that being said, there are certain policy changes that can have an impact but all I would ask for everybody right at this particular moment is to maybe just calm down a little bit, first of all with the hyperbole. It's also helping no one to have illegitimate foreign analysis of Thai legal matters either, so that's also worth noting as well.

That being said, is Thailand worth it as a retirement haven if you will? Yeah absolutely. I think it really is one of the best places in the world to retire, especially from a cost-benefit standpoint. Can you set yourself up, so you don't have to worry about a lot of these visa hassles and even some of these, in theory, hypothetical possible tax problems? Yes, absolutely you can set yourself up that way.

So yeah, at the end of the day, I think, yes retirement remains a very positive option for folks who are looking to leave their home country and find some place pleasant to retire.
