Annual Thai Retirement Visa Extension News

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing Thai Retirement Visas being so-called "better advertised".  I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the Pattaya Mail, that is pattayamail.com, the article is titled: Pattaya immigration's customer improvements go ahead. Quoting directly, and I urge those who are watching this video, go check out that article in detail, interesting stuff there. Quoting directly: "The building of an enclosed and air conditioned area for waiting customers at Chonburi Immigration Headquarters is almost complete. The registration desk for 90 days address reporting and annual" - they say - "annual retirements of stay has also been better advertised." I think they meant "annual extensions of retirement stay have been better advertised."

Yeah, if you look in that article, there are photos there of signage and things, better advertising, Extension of Stay and Retirement Visa status. For those who are unaware, it is possible to maintain one's retiree status here in Thailand and by retiree status, I mean Visa status based on retirement in Thailand through extension of stay. One can basically extend their stay by filing an application with the Immigration Office here in Thailand, proving up one's financial ability to maintain oneself in retiree status and thereby gain a one year extension of status within the Kingdom and that can be renewed on an annual basis. Many retirees here in Thailand opt to maintain their status in Thailand via Extension of Status and that seems to be something that we are not probably going to see change anytime soon. In fact I would say probably it will never change; we will always have a Retirement Visa option out there and available for those retirees looking to retire in Thailand.

So if you're interested in retiring in Southeast Asia, looking at Thailand is probably something to really consider as I would argue it's one of if not the best places for foreign retirees to spend their Golden Years out here in Southeast Asia.
