Update on Thai Non-Immigrant O Retirement Visas

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing Non-immigrant Thai O Retirement Visas.

We are specifically discussing this because it recently came to my attention via the Royal Thai Embassy website in London and under “For Retirement Non-immigrant O, that is the heading, under that heading on their website it specifically states: "If your Visa has expired, you have to apply for a new Visa. You must meet the requirements for a non-O Visa with the additional requirement that applicants have health insurance for outpatient not less than 40,000 Baht and for inpatient not less than 400,000 Baht". And a further quote from further above: "While Thailand still puts in place travel restrictions, foreign nationals who are holders of non-Immigrant O can apply for a Certificate of Entry to go to Thailand". And they have all the rest of the requirements: passport, photos application documentation, Certificate of Entry, declaration forms, flight information, information pertaining to Alternative State Quarantine etc. But what is notable is this is the Non-immigrant O Retirement Visa. When retirees first became eligible to return to Thailand, it started off strictly in the O-A category and that left a lot of folks, for lack of better term, out in the cold with respect to getting into Thailand. What is interesting and I am going to make another video on this specifically, is now it appears retirees need to get insurance if they are abroad with a non-O Visa. I will get into more detail on that in a video we are making contemporaneously with this one. But long story short, yes this is a big update. Folks who are abroad who have a Non-immigrant O Retirement Visa they now are eligible to return to Thailand.

That said the requirements for doing so are not what they were back in February and it can prove a bit daunting for some folks. If you feel a little bit overwhelmed, it may not be a terrible idea to contact a legal professional to gain some insight and guidance into how best to proceed.
