Are Charter Flights Required for Thai Special Tourist Visas?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing Charter flights in the context of the Special Tourist Visa.

In a recent article from the Bangkok Post that is bangkokpost.com, the article is titled: Ministry Vows Bangkok Special Tourist Visa Arrivals by October. Quoting directly: "The most important thing is for tourists to provide all required documents regarding their itinerary to Thai Consular Officials including payment for Alternative State Quarantine or Alternative Local State Quarantine facility, post quarantine accommodation, charter flights or private jet bookings, COVID free certificate and travel and health insurance.

We have seen this in multiple publications where they are talking about folks who are going to be obtaining the Special Tourist Visa need to go ahead and make Charter flight accommodation for their travel to Thailand. Now that requirement is very likely to basically exclude a certain subset of folks from coming to Thailand using this type of Visa. Now whether or not this remains a long-term requirement remains to be seen but at least for now and again we have seen this in multiple publications, it seems likely that at least for the relatively foreseeable near future, these Charter flight accommodations are going to be necessary in order for a Special Tourist Visa to ultimately be issued.

That stated, we have yet to actually see this program be brought online.  We have yet to see the actual regulations associated with it so all of this is somewhat conjecture for now and we will keep you updated on this channel as the situation progresses.
