Are Discussions of Deportation from Thailand "Scare Tactics"?
Transcript of the above video:
As the title of this video suggests, we are talking about deportation, whether it is a ‘scare tactic’. I thought of making this video after reading a recent comment on one of our prior videos, quoting directly: "The Attorney makes it seem as if you wanted to play music at a café you could be deported, because that was considered "work". This sounds like scare tactics.”
Hey, I have been called this for years okay. I am not using scare tactics; I am not interested in fear mongering. Point of reference, I know somebody who was hanging a picture in their own business, well it was their spouse's business, they were on an O Marriage Visa. Their Thai Work Permit was processing, not with us, they came to us after this had occurred. Their Thai Work Permit was processing at that moment but they had yet to see it is issued and they were hanging a picture frame in the premises where they had this sort of pizza shop and that person was arrested. It came very close to them being deported. They contacted us after that and we sort of intervened and managed to sort of smooth things over because the Work Permit was processing. But yeah, this isn't scare tactics; I'm not here trying to scare people okay? I would hope at this point people see, I make a lot of these videos just to get relevant and in my opinion good information out there because unfortunately, there is just a plethora of not so good information in the ether of the internet, what a shock! They used to say "don't believe everything you read." Now hardly anybody reads, case and point, a lot of people are on YouTube, myself included, and there's just bad info out there.
But the fact of the matter is, yeah work authorization is taken very, very seriously by Thai Authorities as I have discussed in other videos. On top of Immigration inspections now the Department of Employment is sending around folks to do inspections associated with a Thai Work Permit. This isn't a scare tactic and yes, you can be deported from Thailand for engaging in illegal employment activities. That is a fact. We have discussed it. I did a video recently where 20 foreigners had been deported, cited and deported for Work Permit violations just since the Emergency Decree ended. Not my intention to scare people. My intention is to hopefully inform people and maybe forestall them having a problem that they can't resolve.
