As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing Special Tourist Visa extension. For those who are unaware, Special Tourist Visas are a different type of travel document from a standard Tourist Visa. Special Tourist Visas as we have discussed at length in many videos on this channel, Special Tourist Visas can provide for up to 9 months of status in Thailand but as noted in other videos, they have a hard-out. You can only use it that one 9-month period. You can't convert status; you can't jump over into another Visa status. Those in Special Tourist Visa status have to leave Thailand.

A recent announcement from Thai Immigration, that is here in Bangkok and I am going to go ahead and put this up on screen. Announcement: Change of Service Center for Short Term Visa Extension. Special Tourist Visa (STV). The service center will be moved from Muang Thong Thanee Temporary Service Center to the Government Complex Building B, Chaengwattana Road from April 5th 2021 onwards.

So those who are in Thailand on Special Tourist Visas and wish to extend status, you may do so but you are no longer going to be that doing that at Muang Thong Thanee, you will be doing that at Chaengwattana. That is where most folks are used to dealing with Immigration but Muang Thong Thanee was open so they could lay off some of the overflow especially with the respect to certain things like 90-day reporting etc. but now it looks like indeed Special Tourist Visas are going to be extended from Chaengwattana here in Bangkok moving forward.
