"Beach Bully" Sees Thai "Gun Licences" Canceled?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are still discussing the so-called "beach bully". It hasn't really been in the news lately but yeah there was this incident involving this person who kicked another person, a Thai person, on what this person thought was their own property. It turns out it was not their property, they were encroaching onto public land and it has kind of blown up into this whole thing. They're adjudicating a couple of different cases. Even the Interior Minister has come out and said look this person is not going to be able to maintain their status here in Thailand, so a lot going on there.

I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from Thailand News, that is thailandnews.co. The article is titled: Swiss 'beach bully' to lose elephant foundation in Phuket. Quoting directly: "Phuket Authorities will revoke the elephant foundation license of the Swiss man who allegedly kicked a Thai woman doctor on a beach, after cancelling his gun licenses, according to the Phuket Governor."

Yeah as we have discussed before, foreign nationals are now not allowed a permit for a firearm here in Thailand; it is reserved to Thai nationals only. There was a time when it was possible for foreign nationals to get gun licenses most notably those who held Permanent Residence, it was kind of a presumptive for lack of a better term 'right' although 'right' isn't quite the right word; it was sort of a presumptive privilege if you will for those who have PR. That ended some years back. I did the video at the time when that occurred. Now that said, there are those who have been around long enough that they maybe sort of "grandfathered" in to their license. That said, it can always be revoked and in the event that there is a criminal matter pending, in the event that something like a deportation may be pending, basically if you get on the wrong side of Thai Law enforcement, there's a very good chance you are going to see your permit revoked notwithstanding the fact you may be grandfathered in.

Again if you were foreign national coming to Thailand for the first time note, yeah it's going to be difficult to the point of effective impossibility for a foreign national to get anything akin to a gun permit here in Thailand. Now there are those who go to like firing ranges and things of that nature because they enjoy shooting. Under those circumstances, yeah you may be able to fire a weapon here in Thailand; you may be able to go to a gun range and use a firearm at that facility. But as far as being licensed to possess one for example at home or for that matter carrying, which carrying is an entirely different issue, but again in either case, foreigners now moving forward are not able to get such permits and those that have had them in the past can still see them revoked in the event that it's deemed appropriate, most likely pursuant to some sort of criminal investigation or adjudication.
