Cambodian "Digital Nomad" Crackdown a Harbinger for Thai DTV Visa?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing, well we are discussing recent developments by Thai Immigration with regards to crackdown on so-called "digital nomads" and whether or not this might be something of a harbinger for things to come in quarter 1 and 2 of 2025 here in Thailand. What are we talking about?

I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the Pattaya Mail, that is pattayamail.com, the article is titled: Thai Government priorities include pan-ASEAN Common Visa policy. Quoting directly: "Cambodia has recently cracked down on "digital nomads" relying on the 30-day entry permit." Yeah, so-called digital nomads - whatever that term means - have been utilizing this DTV, the Destination Thailand Visa, and as I have said since its inception, it remains to be seen exactly how this thing is going to work. I do understand everybody on YouTube thinks it's a foregone conclusion that this is going to operate a certain way. Meanwhile the ETA is being set up - that is the Electronic Travel Authorization by the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Meanwhile, Thai Immigration is setting up the Thailand Immigration System. On top of that, we have recently done ALERTS on how the new e-Visa will be working for Visa Runs starting in 2025 at least here regionally as we talked about the fact that they are going to make people wait 10 -15 days at least at the Thai Embassy in Laos to actually get a new visa to come back into Thailand. Everything we are seeing tells me they are tightening things up.

Now again, the narrative associated with the Destination Thailand Visa when it was created was that everything is sweetness and light, everything's going to be perfect, don't worry about it, it's a 5-year Visa with 6-month validity at each entry. Well, it remains to be seen whether or not that's going to be the case because we haven't actually seen what Immigration is going to do with this. And now on top of it, Cambodian Immigration is clearly cracking down on Digital Nomads. Now I know, Cambodian Immigration, not Thai Immigration, but things tend to move sort of in trend or in sort of waves so I don't think it's outside the realm of possibility, again and I've discussed this at length in other videos, I don't think it's outside the realm of possibility that we could be looking at major requirements associated with ongoing DTV status beginning in the first part of 2025.
