"Concerns" In Thai Resorts About Illegal Foreign Workers?
Transcript of the above video:
As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing concerns about "illegal foreign workers" here in Thailand. I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the Pattaya Mail, that is pattayamail.com, the article is titled: Thai Government denies dangers from visa-free policy. Quoting directly and I urge those who are watching this video, go check out that article in detail. As usual there is a lot of good information in there, quoting directly: "Concerns centred around Chinese citizens being illegally abducted by fellow nationals and tales about Chinese "police stations" operating in Bangkok and beyond. Other reports claim Russians have been found working illegally in Phuket as taxi drivers, whilst Indians in Pattaya were accused of operating restaurants for reasons other than selling food. But some of these claims have proven untrue, or occurred before Visa liberalization, and there is scant initial evidence that Thai security is now more threatened than before."
So look, as we discussed in other videos, working illegally in Thailand or working in Thailand is illegal without proper authorization. As we see more people come to Thailand, I don't think it is unreasonable to presume we will likely see more incidences of people working illegally just based on a volume metric. I mean there are just more foreigners here, there are therefore more people that therefore have the opportunity to work illegally.
As we have discussed in other videos, there are a number of restricted occupations to foreigners in Thailand most notably taxi driving is one of them and a number of other things. Then there are also issues associated with people setting up effectively front businesses to operate illegal activity behind the scenes. All of that is problematic from a Thai Law Enforcement standpoint but the thing to keep in mind and to take away from this video is if you are looking to come to Thailand and remain here long term and work here, you need to go through proper channels, receive work authorization before doing so in order to operate perfectly legally here in the Kingdom of Thailand.
