A "Customer-Centric Approach" At Thai Embassies And Consulates?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing a Customer-Centric Approach at Thai Embassies and Consulates. Yeah, there has been a major push within the Government to utilize the apparatus of the Foreign Ministry to try and encourage things like Foreign Trade and Tourism to Thailand.

So I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the Nation, that is nationthailand.com, the article is titled: Foreign Ministry urges envoys to become proactive in driving Thai economy. Quoting directly: "The Foreign Ministry launched a weeklong summit with Thai Ambassadors, Consuls General and Trade Representatives to give them instructions on working proactively to expand the country's economy. The forum, which wraps up on Friday, was opened by Foreign Minister Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara on Monday at the JW Marriott Hotel Bangkok. Attending were 65 Ambassadors, 28 Consuls General, heads of three Thai Permanent Missions to the United Nations and ASEAN, as well as Thai representatives." So again, this push I think it is very positive. I have done another video contemporaneously with this one where I kind of went into the fact that from sort of a tactical standpoint if you will, the usage of the apparatus within the Foreign Ministry, I think is a very clever way to further these goals, to further these aims. That said I thought of also, when I was thinking of making this video doing the research for this video, I came upon this article from the Bangkok Post, bangkokpost.com, the article is titled: PM unveils 'Proactive Diplomacy'. Quoting directly: "The PM asked the envoys to adopt a customer-centric approach, which the Government also aims to do." So again, we are quoting a small excerpt in that article, in both of those articles. We urge those who are watching this video, go check out those articles in detail because there is a lot more nuance and insight to be gained by reading those.

But long story short, this Customer-Centric approach, I think this is a great idea. I think the Government is making a really wise choice with regard to how they approach things like possibly Visa issuance in the future because in the past, I often found that for example it might be a hindrance to the Tourism Sector that the Thai Immigration process, especially for things like Tourist Visas is a bit Byzantine. So to go ahead and sort of streamline that, to cut out as many obstacles as possible to allow tourists in, most notably as we have noted in other videos, the expansion of the Visa Exemption scheme so you don't even need a visa to come to Thailand at least for short term stays, these are all good things and I think will ultimately benefit not only the Tourism Sector but more broadly the entire economy of the Kingdom of Thailand.
