"Daily Transaction Limit Adjustment" for Banking in Thailand?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing transaction limits that are being imposed on people who do banking in Thailand. This actually came from an announcement that someone who watches our channel quite regularly actually had to take a photo of their phone using another phone, to send this to us, because they told us you can't forward it, which is something that has been concerning me about a lot of this it seems like a lot of this Orwellian banking, Nanny minder in my opinion nonsense, is being done almost at a level of like surreptitiousness; they're trying to sort of just be sneaky about it. It makes it all the more galling if that's the way they are acting, let alone the fact that we're talking about institutions who are telling their own customers what they can do with their own money. It's just really not right in my opinion.

That said, quoting directly from this and we are going to redact out names and things so that, I just don't want to get into all that in this video. Apparently, this is happening across the board.

Quoting directly: "Daily transaction limit adjustment

For security purposes, the bank has adjusted the daily transaction limit through (their system) effective as of 23 Jan 2026.

Transfers, bill payments, top-ups and scan payment limit: 50,000 THB per day

Cardless withdrawal limit: 20,000 THB per day (excluding mutual fund purchase, credit card payment/my loan and transfer to own account on their system.)" Yeah, I like how if you want to pay them back for a loan or something, yeah, you go over the limit all you want.

Quoting further: "You can check your maximum transaction loan by selecting” - and they give instructions there, but there's more here.

Quoting further: "In case you wish to request an increase in your maximum transaction limit, select: - " Okay, those are the instructions and then at the bottom:

(You can submit request for limit increase only once per month.)

I mean this is the thing. All this digitization was sold as if it was going to be more convenient, and it is literally the opposite. I mean banking was easier a year and a half ago by orders of magnitude here in Thailand. Meanwhile, it's my understanding that in order to up your transaction limit, you have got to go into the bank and do a biometric face scan associated with it, which by the way, again, who signed on for this? And what gives these banks the right to take our biometrics in order to access our own money?

This stuff is really getting ridiculous. I'm very hopeful that in this upcoming election there may be some sort of electoral mandate manifested to reverse this and put this; this is just unreasonable, and I just think it's bad policy. I think it's going to have a tremendously negative impact on Thailand's economy, most notably it is going to basically dry up liquidity in the economy and velocity of money, the loss of that velocity of money is going to have negative implications as well. Meanwhile, potential investors and people that might want to come live here and spend their money here in living here, they have to be looking at this stuff and questioning whether it's a good idea to maybe do any of that stuff.

Again it remains to be seen how all of this stuff plays out, but we will certainly be keeping you updated on this channel as the situation evolves.
