The Destination Thailand Visa in 2025: Expect the Unexpected?

Transcript the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing the Destination Thailand Visa and what to expect in 2025. Well as the title suggests, I think it's pretty wise to if you will, expect the unexpected. There's a high probability that things could substantially change with regard, well change might not even be the right word, but we are going to see especially locally, rules imposed regarding the DTV that we have yet to see promulgated.

As I have discussed in many other videos, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs rolled this out in my opinion to boost tourism or to boost numbers going into high season; they rolled this out in June. The initial lawful status duration of any of these visas is going to be 6 months, so quarter one of 2025 is going to be the earliest point at which we are going to see how local Immigration here in Thailand, under the auspices of the Ministry of Interior, handles such cases. Again, it remains to be seen exactly what they'll be looking at, exactly how they'll be handling it. Immigration has been notably silent and we brought that up in other videos.

One thing I would like to say on this, if it turns out that I have been overly prudent if you will, with regard to my caution on the DTV, I will be the first one to admit it, in quarter one or quarter two. If it's looking like "hey these DTVs actually do tend to work as seemingly advertised", I'll be the first one to admit that. One of the reasons I have been very cautious and vocally cautious of the DTV, is because of the fact that it was really only sort of rolled out halfway. Ministry of Foreign Affairs does not have authority to make basically decisions pertaining to Immigration matters occurring in Thailand. So, they rolled out this program and now they are sort of leaving it with Interior, specifically Immigration under Interior, to deal with sort of the back end if you will. We don't know what that looks like. It could be very reasonable. I tend to think knowing what I know about Immigration, that's not oftentimes how it works. As I have said it before and I'll say it again, anything pertaining to Immigration be it US Immigration, Thai Immigration whatever, 'easy' is never particularly a word that comes up in casual conversation as it pertains to dealing with an Immigration apparatus, that's just not how it is. That said, I'll be the first one to say - if it's going to work - I will be right here telling people that yeah, it is working or looks like it is working as advertised or we will be keeping people updated with possible updates as to the criteria as they go along.

The point of this video is it's still up in the air. We still haven't gotten a lot of clarification regarding the DTV and how it's going to work long-term, but we will certainly keep you updated on this channel as the situation evolves.
