Do I Need an Appointment for Thai Immigration?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing whether or not one needs an appointment to go to Thai Immigration. There was a recent forum posting on ASEAN NOW, aseannow.com, the title was just: Do you have to make an appointment to go to Immigration? And it got me thinking, I said okay I will make a video on that.

Yeah it is a good question. Do you need an appointment? The short answer to that is NO, generally not although depending on the office, there are appointment protocols. In a lot of cases like when we deal with some of our more complex Visa cases here in the office, yeah we do kind of well, I will say my staff actually just gets out there really early and gets everything sort of rounded around on a daily basis. But yeah, there is kind of an informal appointment system insofar as we let them know that we are bringing in this complex case and just kind of be on hand for it.

That being said, your kind of routine stuff that most people watching this video might be interested in, things like just getting your 30-day extension on a Tourist Visa or a 30-day extension on a 30-day stamp things like this, no not really, you are not going to need an appointment necessarily for that. Now you are going to have to go and get a queue number, you are going to have to wait in line to deal with all of that but I do have to say, I mean especially right now where the numbers are low in terms of foreign tourists and things, Immigration is right on top of the ball. They are moving those cases through at least that is what I am hearing at least here in Bangkok, down in the Pattaya area down in the Hua Hin area, they are getting these cases move through.

So even though you may or may not have an appointment with Thai Immigration, at the end of the day, if you get down there to their office you should be able to get what you need done in a relatively timely manner.
