"Drive Up" 90 Day Reporting at Thai Immigration?
Transcript of the above video:
As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing "drive up 90-day reporting". For those who are unaware, in Thailand foreign Nationals who are in Thailand on a Non-Immigrant Visa are required to report their address to Thai Immigration every 90 days. Now there are multiple ways in which one can do this. We have a number of clients who we assist with 90-day reporting everyday quite frankly. Many times our staff is already at Thai Immigration and they assist folks in filing their 90-day reports. There is also a number of people out there who do it themselves, certainly nothing wrong with that but I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the Pattaya Mail, that is pattayamail.com, the article is titled: All Immigration Offices closed on Monday December 12. There is a lot going on in this article, the thrust of which doesn't really go down the line I am going with this video. I urge those who are watching this video go check out that article in detail and read it for yourself. Quoting directly: "Pattaya Immigration," let's be clear here, Pattaya Immigration (Pattaya, sorry to all the people down in Pattaya for me mispronouncing things. I do understand my Midwestern accent; I turn Ts into Ds quite often, so apologies for that) Quoting: "Pattaya Immigration also established several years ago a separate car park booth for long-term visitors to report for the 90 days residence. This is still operational, just by the main Immigration gate, for those expats who do not report online."
So yeah, Pattaya Immigration you can do this sort of by drive in. Bangkok Immigration not so much. You are going to still be dealing with things kind of the old line them up, cue them up, wait around in the insufferably long almost Kafkaesque kind of lines that you have to deal with when dealing with Thai Immigration here. Yeah you are going to still have to deal with that at Bangkok Immigration. It is true that Provincial Immigration Offices because they have a far, far less of a case load although Pattaya Immigration has a pretty high case load but Pattaya Immigration does seem to do a pretty good job about trying to figure out unorthodox ways of streamlining this stuff. I think a drive up for that is a pretty darned good idea for obvious reasons. It is more convenient; it doesn't add any more bodies into a given room when you are dealing with Immigration Authorities. So overall, I think it is a good idea. I hope they expand on this and I hope we see more of this in the future.
