Foreigners with Prior Criminal History and Thailand's Advanced Passenger Processing System?
Transcript of the above video:
As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing the Advanced Passenger Processing System here in Thailand. This is something I've discussed a lot in the past, kind of in passing in prior videos. I have made specific videos APPS; there's another system called the PIBIC system that the Thai Immigration Officers use as well. I'll stick links to that in the description below so you can get some more insight into that. But APPS is important as it pertains to folks with prior criminal history or prior criminal warrants. Let me dig into this.
I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the Bangkok Post, bangkokpost.com, the article is titled: Bangkok Airport Immigration speed and security to the fore. I urge those who are watching this video, go check out that article, there's more information in there. I am going to quote a quick excerpt specifically about the Advanced Passenger Processing System. Quote: "The Advanced Passenger Processing System (APPS) can alert Immigration Officers if a passport holder has an arrest warrant out for them in Thailand or abroad, said Pol. Maj Gen Choengron." Yeah, that's not only what it can do. It can also show past criminal history. I have seen folks, especially with sex offenses on their record have problems with APPS because they just can't even board a plane to even come to Thailand, let alone get to Thailand and then deal with Immigration; they can't even get on a plane to get here. Again, different folks' circumstances are going to impact this process or this protocol if you will differently.
But that being said if you do have prior criminal record of any kind, it's probably a good idea to contact a legal professional first, who knows how to deal with the Thai Immigration System and has dealt with it before to get an assessment on whether or not one is a) eligible to even come to the Kingdom and b) what the most optimal way of thinking Visa or seeking Immigration status is. Meanwhile, keep it in the back of your mind if you do have a prior criminal record, it may be that you may never be able to gain lawful access, lawful admission to the Kingdom of Thailand.
