"Good News" Regarding Thai TM30 For Retirees?
Transcript of the above video:
As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing the TM30 yet again. I have had a lot of correspondence regarding this, I have had a lot of interesting comments talking about TM30. As viewers can guess, TM30 is not folks' favourite topic; I am not a huge fan of TM30 if I am being honest. But long story short, it's something we have got to deal with.
A viewer sent in a very nice email to me just sort of clarifying if you will what is going on with regard to TM30 and sort of where they are at. So I am going to go ahead and read this. Quoting directly: "I am a retiree with a Non-Immigrant O Visa and I rent an apartment. Saw your video and went to Immigration today to update my TM30 as I had been abroad recently and had not obtained a new TM30 receipt on my return. My proprietor said he had registered me online. The good news is that at the moment they are not fining anybody or getting upset if your TM30 receipt is not up to date. It seems to be a general harvesting of customers. Presumably as everyone has to do 90 day, their generosity will continue till the end of the year or hopefully till the end of February to cover any stragglers." So yeah interesting stuff there. I thought that was, and thanks to this person that sent us this email. There is a lot of good insight in there. I am going to do a couple of other videos based on that email. It is quite a long email and a lot of good insights in there.
Yeah long story short is for now, it does not look like especially with regard to retirees that they are trying to hassle anybody regarding these new policies with regard to TM30. As we will get into in another video, the online app seems to be having some problems, I will get into that specifically in that video. But long story short and one thing I really like to convey to the audience and everyone, I know we do a lot of these videos and there's a lot of information out there about Immigration. It can be a bit overwhelming and I really want to convey again, look at the end of the day is Thai Immigration is not looking to just en masse kick out a bunch of retirees over some TM30 technicality. At the end of the day, they basically just want to see folks' basic compliance and it sounds to me like they are just kind of tinkering with their internal structure if you will, their internal processes associated with TM30. And bear in mind a lot of these changes are primarily occurring at the Pattaya Immigration office although we see similar things up here in Bangkok but I just wanted to kind of convey with this video that look at the end of the day, I don't think retirees should fret overly about this TM30 issue because as we have seen with the TM30, it kind of pops up, it causes some consternation and then it kind of tends to subside. I personally am hoping for subsidence sooner rather than later.
