How About Pattaya Then, Lads?
Transcript of the above video:
When I am sort of trolling through the ether of the internet most of the time in my off hours after my brain has turned to jelly from reading through whatever I have to read through in a given day to be able to work here in the firm and assist my clients, I just kind of like to kind of stroll around the internet, just kind of read tidbits of things out there off of multiple different sort of websites. I found this quite interesting headline on Zero Hedge, zerohedge.com headline is: Amsterdam Urges Rowdy Brits to "Stay Away". So quoting directly: "This week, Amsterdam will launch a digital campaign to discourage young British men from organizing parties centred around excessive alcohol and drug consumption. The new campaign, called "Stay Away" will target British men between the ages of 18 and 35 searching "stag party Amsterdam", "cheap hotel Amsterdam" or "pub crawl Amsterdam" online, with advertisements dissuading them of the consequences of drinking too much, taking drugs or causing mayhem in Netherlands' capital."
Well I am here to tell you because I have got a lot British friends, you can dissuade all you want, but most Brits like a drink. Now as far as taking drugs, look don't come to Thailand to be taking any drugs. I would say if Amsterdam doesn't want these party boys, come on over guys I mean Pattaya is wide open. If you liked Amsterdam, you are going to love Pattaya. I am here to tell you. And that is not the only place. There are other great places to go. That said, some of the quieter parts of Thailand would probably prefer that you go to Pattaya because that is where you go if you want to have a crazy wild time, it is a good town. There are quiet parts of Pattaya and then there are wilder parts of Pattaya, it's a different, depends on the part of the city you want to go to, there is a different vibe. I am not saying that is the only place to come in Thailand but as many folks have noted here in Bangkok especially post pandemic, all that kind of party stuff is really a lot more subdued than it was in the past and if you sort of look at the overall trend, I think former Prime Minister Thaksin said going way back now possibly 20 years ago, was quoted as saying "look eventually we kind of want to push all that party stuff into Pattaya," that is kind of where we want it to be and even then we kind of want it to be zoned in these specific places for that specific purpose. That said, Thailand recognizes that there is a demand for these services, for entertainment and nightlife and quite honestly if Amsterdam don't want you, come on over because we are happy to get you. We want the tourism, Thailand loves tourists and I get it. I have had plenty a Stag night out with the Brits and it is a good old time, I am here to tell you, it is a good old time. Now they can get a little wild and they can start raising some cane as it were but they are pretty good. I mean it is not a huge deal. I would definitely think it is a little over the top to mount a campaign called "stay away" but whatever I am not from Amsterdam, I don't know what is going on over there.
Again drugs in Thailand, heavily, heavily regulated. It is not legal to engage or to consume or to buy or to sell or anything associated with commerce, anything that is on the narcotics list. Now for those who are unaware, cannabis in this past year has been pulled off the narcotics list and is now considered basically an herb. It is a regulated herb under given Thai Law and those dispensaries here in Thailand that dispense Cannabis and Cannabis products have to be licensed to do so and we have discussed that at length on this channel. Long story short, as long as you are willing to keep it within the parameters of what is legal in Thailand, I think it is pretty safe to say Pattaya would love to see all of you British lads who are looking to have a good time, maybe have a look at Pattaya.
