"How Quiet Immigration Is These Days" in Thailand?

Transcript of the above video:

A lot has been going on lately. I did a video recently where I talked about sort of the Perfect Storm of low season. It has been quiet around here by any metric, by any stretch, just anecdotal evidence or otherwise. If you look around, there are less tourists than we are used to seeing. I'm not saying they are not around, they are there, but there's just in some of the resort towns, there is less of the what I would call the kind of Perpetual Tourist or sort of longer-term tourists; we are not seeing them.

As I have discussed in other videos, I think this could be a matter of folks are kind of scared if you will of being in Thailand at the moment due to recently promulgated tax policies, especially the notion which may be erroneous in the vast majority of cases, that if a person spends over 180 days in Thailand they need to have some kind of tax filing or something done. Again, that is not necessarily the case. In fact, in most cases it is quite the opposite. But that being said, it has people "spooked". They are kind of worried about spending especially during this, spending a great deal of time in Thailand because they are sort of counting their days to sort of make sure that they don't go over the mark of needing to in their mind, have to file tax returns; I think that has something to do with it.

That said, I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the Pattaya Mail, pattayamail.com, the article is titled: "But I don't give a hoot: August 2025. A small excerpt here, quoting directly: "People are remarking how quiet immigration is these days. But don't forget that with Visa exempts for 60 days, plus online address and 90-day reporting there is less need to visit." So yeah, I think that is a valid sort of observation. We are seeing less activity if you will in immigration offices. Well it is because people don't need to extend their visas as often, they don't need to deal with 90-day reporting in person like they once needed to, they don't need to necessarily deal with address reporting in person like they have needed to in the past. Again, it fits into an overall theme here which I would say again this has been a very quiet high season, or excuse me low season overall, and there has been a confluence of events that have led to this, not least of which, in my opinion, a lot of rough rather bad policy decisions by the present government.

That being said, if this remains to be the case, it remains to be seen. We will certainly be keeping you updated on this channel as this situation evolves.
