"I Meet the Thai Visa Requirements"?
Transcript of the above video:
The quote in the title of this video really is based on, it's something I hear a lot and it is kind of at this point it would be a pet peeve, if I wasn't completely numb to it at this point. But basically, I see this a lot where we will send out an email that will say, we'll get an inquiry, they will say "hey we are looking at information for Thai Visas” or something or they will in the initial inquiry say this in some variation, and we will say, "hey yeah, contact us for a consultation, here are our terms and rates, and people say, "oh I already know that I qualify for the Visa; I already meet the requirements." This is in a Thai Immigration context.
I know that all the trolls and whatnot in the comments below are going to say, "yeah they already do know, you just want to make money." No, that's not the issue. It's one of these, 'you don't know what you don't know' and I don't know how many times I have had people over the years contact me like that, and usually storm off in the digital space, angry that we charge for our services and want to get sort of free information about something, or just tell us that they know that they qualify, and what does it cost? Well I can't give you the cost until I talk to you and I know what your situation is. And in a Thai Immigration context, let me be real clear, as of July 15th, which is the time of this video in 2025, you don't know what you don't know. If it's not already clear from the other videos on this channel, the political system over here or situation if you will is in a pretty good state of flux. It is not a foregone conclusion exactly what the government is going to look like today, tomorrow, a month from now. It's also not a foregone conclusion what certain policy positions are going to be like today, tomorrow, a month from now, a week from now, whatever. And during all of this, we have had a major crackdown as I have discussed in other videos. The Immigration System is in a state of flux. Now the other YouTubers can all wander around out there, quite frankly in the ether of the internet wilderness, talking with their false unearned confidence about, "this is how it works, this is how it is". This is the time when things are in flux, and this is a time when no you don't know that you need the requirements under the current situation, under current facts, under current circumstances. I don't mean to get rather stern in this video; that wasn't my initial intention. That said, I do get kind of angry at the attitude that, "No, no. I know, I already know. I've seen the requirements." The other thing is you don't know the practicalities. Even under the best of circumstances, I have seen folks contact us thinking that “I qualify for this Visa. I saw it online”, and then I will be talking to them, I'm like well you have got a problem with that; there's some element that you are not seeing that is part of the practical process that you don't qualify for.
The point of this video is basically to just sort of get it across, it's not always straightforward. Immigration, and this isn't specifically aimed at Thailand either; I do a lot of US Immigration work. The US Immigration System is difficult and clunky to work with at times. The practicalities of processing dictate a bunch of different outcomes frankly, and even usage of visas under different circumstances in a US context, different fact patterns are going to drive different analysis and different conclusions. The point I am trying to make here is, don't presume, especially in circumstances like right now, that you know the ins and outs and the exact requirements associated with Thai Visas and Thai Immigration and presume that basically you know better than somebody, frankly that has been doing this for 17 years, has been himself through the entire Thai Immigration process all the way through to naturalization to citizenship itself. That is just not wise and especially at a time when everything is in such an extreme state of flux as we are at right now.
