As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing an inspection story associated with a Thai O Visa. So for those who are unaware, the Thai O Visa is the O category, it is the Other Category, it is miscellaneous. It can pertain to retirees, Retirement Visas here in Thailand; oftentimes, it can also pertain to Marriage Visas. 

I thought of making this video after reading a recent comment on our channel quoting directly: "Visit every year for myself and my last application, they called my wife," (so presumably this person is on an O Marriage Visa) - "they called my wife and myself back to the Immigration Offices five separate times citing that the rules had changed each time; five occasions for the last Visa. We have been married years and I got my first Visa in 2016." So this person, and we are currently in 2023, presumably they are on their 7th Visa or 7th extension associated with their Thai O Marriage Visa and they were called back to the Immigration Office five separate times. 

As we have discussed, Thai O Marriage Visas can be somewhat cumbersome. This results from the fact that there was a scam a few years back associated with so-called sham marriages wherein basically people were being legally registered to marriages that they weren't married to those people and then they were using that as a basis for issuance of O Marriage Visas. As a result, the sort of upshot of that situation has been that ever since we have seen heightened scrutiny associated with O Marriage Visas and we have seen a higher number of inspections, or like in this case, being called back five separate times to be continuously inspected by the Immigration Office as a result of an application for extension of an O Marriage Visa. 

So something to keep in mind when you are looking at your Visa options here in Thailand is there is heightened scrutiny associated with the O Marriage Visa.
