"Monthly Case Reports" From Thai Immigration?
Transcript of the above video:
As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing Monthly Case Reports being made at Thai Immigration.
Now I did an ALERT recently on this channel and I am going to cite the same material I cited in that ALERT. Thai Immigration has been instructed by Royal Thai Police to begin heightened scrutiny of foreigners basically here in Thailand, especially as it pertains to foreigners operating illegally including and it seems to be a major focus in this inclusion, is foreigners working illegally here in Thailand. That seems to be a major priority. That said, I thought one aspect of this warranted its own video, and quoting directly from Khaosod English that's khaosodenglish.com, the article is titled: Thai Police require monthly case reports and stricter foreign screening. Quoting directly: "For every arrest made, the case must be investigated further, and the results of the operation must be reported by the 10th of every month. The first report is due on 10th April 2024."
So the thing you have got to understand first of all, this is a big change. Immigration is supposed to be reporting, proactively issuing reports on what they are doing with regard to enforcement activities against foreigners here in Thailand and quoting again directly, and this is part of their remit if you will: "Investigate and prosecute all crimes committed by foreigners. This includes violations of the Immigration Act, the Alien Employment Act, the Entertainment Places Act, illegal business operations, nominee arrangements where Thai nationals hold shares or real estate ownership on behalf of foreigners to avoid legal compliance. The behaviour of foreigners should also be investigated to determine if they have any mafia-like influence. Cooperation with relevant agencies is required for integrated law enforcement."
The point of this video, they are getting serious and now they have deadlines for reports. Look I have dealt with bureaucracies for going on two decades now. When you are affirmatively obliged to issue a report, that is a lot of, how do I put it, bureaucratic resource you are expending when you are doing that. In short, they take it seriously. So those who are watching this video who are concerned, if you are not in compliance and you know if you are not in compliance; you know if you are cutting corners or you are not strictly obeying the law; you're just trying to coast along and do things the way you want to do them, whatever, I get it. That said, when you are in a foreign country it doesn't always work that way.
Long story short, the reason for this video is to understand this is not a video where we talk about this is kind of a vague thing that is just sort of happening in the ether of the bureaucracy of Immigration. When you have got reports and you have got deadlines, things start happening. That has been my experience dealing with bureaucracy, I suspect that is how this will play out, so basically act accordingly.
