As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing inspections in the context of Thai Work Permits. We have seen a number of these recently; well I should say we have seen far more of them recently than we have seen in the relatively recent past. It seems the Department of Employment, Department of Labour, or I should say Department of Employment under the Ministry of Labour kind of feels I don't know why, they seem to have had a paradigm shift and especially with respect to new Work Permits, we are seeing quite a number of inspections that in the past we wouldn't see before.

Now as I said in another video I made contemporaneously with this one talking about Business Visa inspections, inspections in the context of a Thai Work Permit, it is something to be concerned about; it is not something to panic about. They happen, it's their job. They have an inspection unit and they are going to inspect from time to time. Sometimes it's random, sometimes they may have a reason, there is something that they want to see, they don't understand. For the most part though and I have dealt with inspections even before I was Thai, I dealt with inspection for years, it would just happen. The employment office or Immigration they just want to come by and make sure you are really there, make sure everything's on the up and up. It does happen. Understand, yeah they do have the power to detain, they have the power, in theory they have a power to detain, arrest and deport if something is in clear violation of Thai Law. But if your documentation is in order and your legal work is in order, your Company is in compliance there's probably not anything to overly worry about with respect to not only Immigration but also with respect to Thai Work Permits, to Thai Work Permit inspections.

Yeah we are seeing more of them. I suspect we are going to see more of them moving forward especially as we are seeing all this this pandemic stuff come to an end and now we are seeing more active interaction between the Government and people, just generally speaking, I suspect we'll see more definitely than we have seen the last two and a half years. That said, exactly how this is going to play out remains to be seen. We will certainly keep you updated on this channel as the situation evolves.
