A New 90 Day Thai Visa Exemption Scheme?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing a new 90-day Thai Visa Exemption scheme. I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the Thai Examiner, that is thaiexaminer.com, the article is titled: 90-day visa for European travelers to boost confidence and goodwill damaged by pandemic. Quoting directly, you know, it's like the title of this "damaged by pandemic", well goodwill and confidence wasn't damaged by pandemic, it was damaged by the Government's response to it. And it's not just Thailand, all Governments, okay. Every Government that honestly locked down economies and did all this stuff, that was what damaged confidence. It wasn't the pandemic itself, it was the massive over exaggeration, overreaction. Quite honestly, I hope we will see some kind of accountability because in my mind, a lot of blame probably should fall on certain Officials back in the United States seemingly, although there are others, their counterparts throughout the world that I would worry about as well. That said not really the thrust of this video, but I think that is worth pointing out from time to time because these headlines and things tend to gloss over that. The pandemic didn't cause a loss of confidence, it was the response to it.

Quoting directly: "Plan to boost long-haul tourist numbers from Europe as Thailand needs to woo back its former tourism market in Western countries, lost during the pandemic shutdown with more flights, convenience and nightlife as the country targets 30 million visitors in 2023 and higher spenders. The Thai Government is ready to extend the 90-day Visa regime to Travelers from Europe in a move to be announced in the coming days according to a key aide to the PM. The latest development comes as Thailand struggles to regain over 66% of its foreign tourism income since 2019, after permanent damage was inflicted including a loss of confidence and goodwill because of pandemic era shutdowns and restrictions." That is well put by Thai Examiner. Yet again they do a good job of really pointing out the data points and like I said, again it wasn't the pandemic per se, it was the response.

So the good news being though that this Government does seem to be prioritizing tourism as they should, and they do seem to be undertaking plans and executing protocols if you will, that are going to be conducive to encouraging tourists. So again, if somebody can come to Thailand from Europe and get 90 days on arrival, just coming into the airport, no need to deal with visas and all the roadblocks and obstacles, I think that is a good thing. I think that is very beneficial especially going into this high season; hopefully this will play out positively. We will certainly keep you updated on this channel as the situation evolves.
