New Immigration Chief Adds Convenience to Pattaya Office?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing the situation at the Pattaya Office at Immigration here in Thailand. I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the Pattaya Mail, that's pattayamail.com, the article is titled: Customers at Jomtien Immigration welcome extra help. Quoting directly: "Visitors to the headquarters of Chonburi Immigration say Immigration Officers now assisting the queuing public in the car park is a welcome development." Quoting further: "The move is part of a package of user friendly measures introduced by Police Colonel Parina Klinkesorn, the new head of Chonburi Immigration. They also include signposting of "outside" services which do not require joining the regular queue as well as the provision of extra seating. A further tentative plan is to cover the whole of the car park area with a permanent roof." That might not be a bad idea. Anybody that has ever been by the main Immigration Office, what I call the main Immigration Office in Jomtien Beach in Pattaya knows that there is sort of this car park, a roof would probably help. Because when it rains, they have got up these kind of canopy things for most of the area but if you just put a roof up over the whole thing it would probably save up a lot of space, and probably be more convenient for everybody.

The reason for the video is more less because we talk a lot of bad news or for lack of a better term "bad news" in Thai Immigration. Things are getting more difficult, more scrutiny on this. It's nice to see something kind of going the foreigners’ way a little bit on the issue of Thai Immigration. It's also, people do forget that Immigration does have a service component and I have to be honest, many Immigration Officers are rather service oriented. In a lot of instances though they are massively overworked or they are under an intensive amount of stress associated with the overall job. The other thing is they also have an adjudicatory function so it's this weird role to be an Immigration Officer. I don't really envy much being an Immigration Officer in any country. It's not overly pleasant in my opinion just as an outside observer. It's not something I would particularly want to do. You're in kind of a weird precarious place but I just would like to say it's good to see that the Immigration staff down at the Pattaya Office are taking measures to go ahead and make things as pleasant and smooth as possible for those using the services of Immigration at Jomtien Beach, in Pattaya, Thailand.
