New Thai Immigration Facilities?
Transcript of the above video:
As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing Thai Immigration. Now the title of this video is rather broad - New Thai Immigration Facilities – we are speaking specifically about Pattaya and I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the Pattaya Mail, pattayamail.com, - the article is titled: Pattaya-Jomtien Immigration bureau launches new service. Quoting directly: “Chonburi Immigration Headquarters, at Jomtien Soi 5, today introduced a revamped, customer-friendly service for foreigners to subdue queuing and long waiting periods. Two airconditioned glass buildings, ”A” and “B”, have been completed in the former on-site carpark. The changes come about after many years of overcrowding, waiting in the hot sun etc.
Yeah, again this may be Pattaya specific but a large number of the foreign nationals that either call Thailand home or come through Thailand on a regular basis, end up dealing with Pattaya immigration probably second only to Bangkok Immigration Division 1 here in Bangkok. Again, the title is broad but I think it pertains to a large segment of the audience, so that is kind of the reason for the broad title.
I don’t think anyone is upset about this. I think this is a good thing across the board. Again, as noted in the past, that is a rather small facility down there at Jomtien Immigration, I have been to it many times myself, walked by it many times myself as well and in the past, it was basically just a little house effectively. It wasn’t exactly small but it wasn’t exactly big for the thousands and thousands of people that process through that facility in any given year, it really was a rather undersized structure to support that kind of case load.
That said, this expansion I think is not only warranted but will probably, it will probably suit that Immigration office quite well for many years to come I expect.
