A New Thai Visa for "Wealthy Retirees"?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, it appears that Thailand or Authorities in Thailand are looking at possibly promulgating regulations which would create a category of a long-term visa specifically a possible 10-year visa for "wealthy retirees".

A recent article from ASEAN NOW, that is aseannow.com, the article is titled: Thailand Proposes 10-year Visas and Land Ownership for Foreigners Again. We have discussed this in prior videos as it has been discussed by various operators within the Thai Government, various policy makers and folks on various committees discussing possibility of changes to the Immigration Laws. So it appears that one of the categories of folks that they want to encourage to travel to Thailand to stay long term, are "wealthy retirees". Quote: "The wealthy retirees are defined as those who are aged 50 or over and can invest 8 million Baht in property or Government Bonds while also being able to show a minimum annual income of $40,000." This possibly could render one able to go ahead and get one of these 10-year visas.

Now for those who are unaware, there are for example the O-X Retirement Visa which can provide that much status, that much time, lawful status here in Thailand. There is also the Elite Visa. The big difference here is with the Elite Visa, you actually have to pay in to the program. You basically have to buy the membership and thereby gain the Visa status. The O-X requires a deposit of a substantial amount of funds in a bank account. We have got another video on this channel on O-X Retirement Visas. I urge folks to go to the search function, just type in O-X and you will see all the information associated with that. This appears to be somewhat similar to that but it does appear that Immigration policy makers are looking at expanding visa categories to provide longer term visa options for certain types of retirees here in the Kingdom of Thailand.
