Lo these past couple of weeks, the issue of Education Visas has been a pretty hot topic. A lot going on here, in a very fluid state, not in an overall positive situation, major update here. So quoting directly from the Pattaya Mail, that's pattayamail.com, the article is titled: Visa options for Chinese visitors to Thailand shrink rapidly. The thrust of this article goes in kind of a different direction. There is a lot of really solid information in here. I am going to quote a quick excerpt. I really, really urge those who are watching this video to go read that article in detail to get some further insight. Quoting directly: "Following the investigations by Thai Police Commissioner-general Damrongsak Kittiprapas into Chinese mafias operating locally, Thai language schools nationwide are not able to obtain Student Visa extensions for any nationality at Immigration Bureau until further notice." Let me read that again: "Thai language schools nationwide are not able to obtain Student Visa extensions for any nationality at Immigration Bureau until further notice." 

So last week we were talking about this. There has been a lot of heavy scrutiny on Thai Education Visas; there is also a great deal of scrutiny on Thai Volunteer Visas. There is a lot going on with this but yeah as of now, it appears there are not going to be any further Education Visa extensions issued at least into the foreseeable future. Now exactly what this means it is hard to say, but those who are on Education Visas, especially those who are using them effectively as a pretext to maintain long-term status in Thailand and have no other real options, well I shouldn't say have no other options maybe folks haven't looked at their other options, now is the time to look at other options because the Education Visa I fear may not be a viable option in the relatively near future and quite honestly I think out into the longer term foreseeable and unforeseeable future, I can see a scenario brewing here where Education Visas aren't really a viable strategy at all.
