As the title of this video suggests, we are asking the question, "no such thing as Permanent Residency in Thailand?" I actually thought of making this video after reading a comment on a prior Short we put up. I am going to go ahead and quote that directly. Quote: "This is useless" - the short was about Thai Permanent Residence - "This is useless. You forgot to mention that there is no such thing as Permanent Residency in Thailand except outright citizenship which is as good as impossible for foreign born nationals." 

Well guess what? You forgot to mention that you don't know what you're talking about when it comes to Thai Immigration. There absolutely is something called Permanent Residence. We have discussed it at length on this channel many, many times. I actually responded to this comment directly and put links to all the videos we've ever done on Thai Immigration on legal.co.th, as well as on YouTube, okay? Thailand has had Permanent Residence for decades. Is it a very commonly issued type of benefit? No, because a large number of people do not meet the criteria for being issued Permanent Residence. But that said, and it is something I'm really getting annoyed with from all these people who think they know everything in the comments sections pertaining to Thai Immigration and know nothing. They make these blanket broad statements, "oh there's no Permanent Residency in Thailand," except there absolutely is and yes, it is possible for foreign nationals to become Thai, I've done it. But that being said, back to the original point of this video is to run around telling people, "oh there's no Permanent Residency," with no backing or basis for that statement, it's the same thing as all these people running around talking about all this hyperbole with regard to tax and things here. It's not doing anybody any good to add this kind of discourse to the overall conversation, especially if you don't know what you're talking about. 

So the thing to take away from this video and to understand is there very much is Permanent Residence here in Thailand. The criteria are rather cumbersome to overcome but it can be overcome and if somebody is able to acquire Permanent Residence here in the Kingdom of Thailand, it is a rather substantial benefit as one does not need to continue to be upgrading their Non-Immigrant status here in Thailand.
