As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing banking in Thailand. Unlike some of our other videos on banking where I discuss geopolitics and things having to do with the rise of these new banking towards syndicates such as mBridge, we are just talking about good old sort of down-to-earth banking if you will, and setting up a Bank Account is the topic of this video. 

So in recent weeks, we have seen news, especially out of Pattaya, regarding the fact that banking is getting difficult; like opening a new Bank Account is getting more difficult. Now here in Bangkok we are able to do it, but quite honestly especially for those who are first arrivals and depending on their visa status - again as with everything it's going to be fact driven - how we need or what we need to do in order to come to the conclusion or come to the outcome in this case opening a Bank Account for somebody: again depends on nationality sometimes, it depends on visa status, it depends on a number of things, but for the most part, we are not having issues getting Bank Accounts open but it is a more cumbersome process than we have seen in the past. There are some costs that also reflect that for our services. 

Now again, it's my understanding it's still difficult to near impossible to get Bank Accounts open in certain regions here in Thailand. Again, from what we are hearing from news reports especially, it's especially difficulty down in the Pattaya area although we have heard it from other tourist centered regions as well, Phuket and Chiang Mai and then of course here in Bangkok, but again we are able still to get people set up with Bank Accounts here at the firm, again depending on the underlying facts in their case. 

Those who find this whole banking thing a bit overwhelming, it may not be a terrible idea to contact a legal professional, gain some insight and insight and guidance into how best to proceed.
