As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing how overstay can end up with a fast-track deportation. 

Let me go ahead and jump in here to Pattaya Mail, that is pattayamail.com, the article is titled: Fast Track deportation plan puts foreign lawbreakers on notice in Thailand. Quoting directly: "The Thai Cabinet has approved a new draft regulation, proposed by Deputy Prime Minister Pakorn Nilprapunt, to expedite and streamline the deportation process for foreign nationals who break Thai Law. Under the new regulation, foreign nationals can face fast-track deportation if they fall into any of these six categories. We have gone into some of this in a prior video, but that said, I want to concentrate on this one.

Illegal Entry/Stay: Entering or remaining in the Kingdom without legal authorization. Now obviously we understand, if somebody like jumped a fence over the Cambodian border into Thailand, yeah that is an illegal entry. What we're talking about in this video is overstay. You arrived legally, but your Visa expired. They are now creating regulations that are going to fast-track deportations under those circumstances. In a way this could be a good thing, because if it is fast-tracked enough and they create a framework whereby there really is no real red tape, you don't have to go through a bunch of desks if you will of different officers to sign a form and chop it or whatever and then move you down the line, but instead for example a police officer ascertains that a person is on overstay in Thailand, under new regulations they immediately take them to the airport, hand them off to Airport Immigration and deport them out summarily. I could see that occurring in the future, under future regulations, unlike the current situation where you may have to go into a police station, they process you in. Then they have got to go ahead and detain you while they wait to put you on a plane to go home, which can take a lot of time. I mean frankly in most deportation matters that we get involved in here at the office it's almost all expedited deportation, meaning it's people who are in the deportation queue; they are basically being detained, and they want to go faster because the system isn't moving that quickly. 

As I've discussed in other videos, I've been to many prison facilities here in Thailand and quite honestly, the Immigration Detention Facility is the one I would want to be in the least. So most of the folks that get stuck in Immigration Detention would like to get out as quickly as they can.

This new deportation policy may actually result in overstayers moving through the system faster. That being said, it remains to be seen and we will certainly be keeping folks updated on this channel as the situation evolves.
