Permanent Residence For Small Business Owners In Thailand?

 Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing Permanent Residence in the context of SMEs here in Thailand, small to medium-sized enterprises, small businesses. We work with a lot of small businesses here, a lot of folks that look to come to Thailand to set up a company and maintain their visa status via that company, to use that company as sort of a vehicle; we assist many folks in that endeavour.

One of the things that I don't think people quite often enough take into account with regard to this option, is the ability to put oneself on the path to Permanent Residence. And let's be clear what we are talking. We are talking about true Lawful Permanent Residence here in Thailand, we are not talking about so-called residency that is discussed in the context of other types of visas that may have long-term status but don't actually confer Lawful Permanent Residence here in the Kingdom. If you are utilizing a standard Business Visa for example or even a Marriage Visa and maintaining work authorization status via a company here in Thailand, it very well may be possible to go ahead and put yourself on track to ultimately see Permanent Residence here in the Kingdom of Thailand. Now every case is going to be different; the prospective business activity also plays in to the analysis on how to set up that type of structure and what needs to be undertaken long-term in order to ultimately get to the point where one is eligible for and possibly approved for Permanent Residence here in the Kingdom.

That said it has been my experience, and this is based on personal experience, I personally came here, set up shop, utilized the company, maintained long-term status and then ultimately at this point, I have actually naturalized to Thai citizenship. But the point of the video is yes, such corporate structures especially in the context of small business owners, can be utilized to maintain long-term status here in Thailand to the point that it may even become permanent.
