As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing processing delays associated with Retirement Visa Extension here in Thailand. To be clear, what we are not talking about here is Retirement Visas which are sought outside of Thailand. So at present, to the best of my knowledge, presently the processing times at Thai Embassies and Consulates sort of is what it has been, there is nothing really to report there. 

However, we are seeing processing delays now more and more in the process of obtaining a Retirement Visa Extension. This is apparently being borne out of the desire by Immigration Law enforcement officials to increase the level of scrutiny applied to Thai Retirement Visa Extension applications and as a result we are seeing the processing time starting to get backed up a little bit. So expect in the future that maybe you could see a scenario where Thai Immigration might be holding on to a passport for example for a few days or even a week longer than they did in the past because the application is under review. This isn't unheard of; it wasn't unheard of in the past and we are hearing reports of this at various Immigration Offices, in fact we have dealt with it ourselves in a couple of scenarios here in the past few days hence the reason for the video.

So something to keep in mind those who are here in Thailand looking to extend your Thai Retirement Visa, there could be increased scrutiny, in fact I think there will be increased scrutiny and possibly expect for the process to take longer than perhaps it has taken in the past.
