Seek Thai Immigration Advice BEFORE Getting Married?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggest, we are discussing the issue of talking to someone about Thai Immigration before getting married. What are we talking about here? Well, I talk to a lot of folks out here in Thailand and in also a US Immigration context - I made another video contemporaneously with this one where I am discussing this same issue in the context of the US Immigration - but I have also talked to a lot of people over the years who they will contact me because they are worried about Thai Immigration, specifically Marriage Visas and they'll often contact me after they've gotten married. And in a vast majority of cases, there are other options rather than the Marriage Visa. In some cases, the Marriage Visa may be their only option but in a lot of cases there may be options they weren't even aware of and there may be scenarios for example like the Retirement Visa where the Retirement Visa is actually a better deal than the Marriage Visa.

As we have discussed in videos in the past, in fact specifically to this point, there have been scams involving Marriage Visas here in Thailand over the years and so in many ways sometimes the Marriage Visa can have a great deal more scrutiny associated with it from Thai Immigration compared to other types of Visas.

The point I'm trying to make with this video, for those who are looking to get married or thinking "hey I just want to go ahead and get married so I can get a Marriage Visa, that's my best or only option with regards to Thai Immigration", that may not be your best and it may not be your only option with regard to Thai Immigration and therefore marriage may not necessarily be a requirement in order to get long-term status here in the Kingdom.

For those who feel a bit overwhelmed by this, it is probably a good idea to contact a legal professional, gain some insight and guidance into how best to proceed.
