Syphilis Test Still Required For Thai Work Permits?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing “Is a syphilis test still required for a Thai Work Permit?” I thought of making this video after reading a recent comment on our channel. "Another good question is why the syphilis tests are needed to renew Work Permits. After the invention of antibiotics, I don't really think that disease warrants so much attention, not these days.

"Yeah what that commenter is pointing to is yeah this is kind of one of those examples of a regulation that 'there is nothing more permanent than a temporary Government initiative' I have been told and ‘there's nothing more permanent than a temporary regulation’. This is just kind of one of these hanger on pieces of criteria that is just sort of floating around like detritus in the bureaucracy that just remains a requirement.

Yeah, part of the part of the requirement for getting a Work Permit is a syphilis test; it is an odd one, but it is, it is there. So yeah I had to deal with it when I was dealing with my Work Permit; they haven't actually changed the regulations on that so it remains one of the criteria for obtaining a Work Permit here in the Kingdom of Thailand.
