Tax Filings And Business Visas In Thailand

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing taxes in a Business Visa context. Now tax has been kind of on the lips of most expats the past roughly, now going on about 6 weeks because of recent changes via memo on the regulation of how taxes are assessed in Thailand based on timing; I have done a number of videos on that already. For those who are unaware, go in to the search function of our channel, type in Tax, you will get the latest videos that I have made on this.

But long story short, in the past, you were able to bring money into Thailand without assessed tax liability depending on timing, the timing of when you brought it in. That has now changed. Thailand has regularized their system with basically every other country on the planet and now Thailand is dealing with things much more akin to how other jurisdictions would deal with it? The question posed, especially by many Business Visa holders is what is the big deal? That I think is rather interesting. Business Visa holders here have always had to deal with taxes, tax ID numbers and the like, as well as file tax returns in order to maintain long-term Business Visa as well as Work Permit status, so again this is just one component of the Business Visa specifically the Business Visa Extension process here in Thailand.

So these recent changes with regard to tax rules as they pertain to foreigners in Thailand are really not going to have much of any impact on those who are already maintaining Business Visa status here in the Kingdom of Thailand.
