Thai Business Visas: Officer Inspection
Transcript of the above video:
As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing the Thai Business Visa, specifically we are discussing inspections.
This really freaks people out. When this happens, many of our clients just, it really puts them on edge. I totally get it, I have been there, the first couple years especially. That said, we have dealt with inspectors for almost, well I have been dealing with them for 15 years. Sometimes they just inspect. It is, Taylor Swift song; players are going to play, haters are going to hate, inspectors are going to inspect. From time to time, it's just their job, we deal with it quite frequently. Now is it something to be concerned about? Yes, absolutely. Is this something to panic about? No, not at all. So yeah your documentation needs to be in order; you need to be dealing with an accounting firm that understands the nuances of Thai Immigration and how accounting documentation plugs in to that. You also should be dealing with a law firm that knows how Immigration works and how all the documentation plugs is with respect to an inspection. Now when an inspection happens, I have actually seen inspectors come in and inspect a perfectly legitimate business and have no issues with our client. I have actually seen inspectors arrest street vendors who are not Thai walking out of the inspection.
The reason I bring this up, again it is not to cause panic, it is to remind folks they do have arrest powers and they can use them. If they deem a work site or whatever to be illegitimate, they can arrest people, they can detain them, they can deport them; it is something to keep in mind. Now that being said, if you are running a business on the up and up and you are maintaining your corporate documentation, it's probably not something you are going to really need to worry overly about. However, it is something to be aware of and yes they do happen and no it is not something to overly panic about unless you have got real fundamental problems when it comes to your documentation and legal representation.
