As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing employee ratios associated with Work Permits and Business Visas. What are we talking about here?  Well anytime you get a Business Visa and a Work Permit based on a Thai corporation - we are going to talk about this from the standpoint of standard Thai corporations, a Thai SME, it's just a standard limited company, it has a foreigner on it, usually is a director/shareholder, that person is maintaining a Business Visa and a Work Permit - there are rules in Thailand with regard to foreign to local employee ratios. What are we talking about?

Well, you have to maintain four Thai employees for every one foreign employee on a given corporation. So on a standard, what I would call “one-man-band” company if you will, where you have got somebody who is maintaining their own business here in Thailand, maintaining a Work Permit and Business Visa, they are going to need to maintain four Thai employees as part of the requirements for maintaining their work authorization and Business Visa status here in the Kingdom. 

Now folks will ask me, well like how much do they need to be around? Prior to COVID it was pretty hard and fast. You needed to have employees, and it was in my opinion, kind of an antiquated paradigm on how business works. Post COVID there's a little bit more understanding that yes people do work remotely; they may not always be in the same office, premises if you will at all times so that kind of changes things. Now that said though the ratio remains. So those that are looking to maintain a Work Permit and Business Visa here in the Kingdom of Thailand while utilizing a small company in order to do business here, need to be aware that they're going to need to maintain four Thai employees in order to maintain compliance for Business Visa and Work Permit issuance and maintenance and extension here in the Kingdom of Thailand.
