Thai Immigration To "Address Foreigners Committing Crimes In The Kingdom"?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing Thai Immigration looking to address foreigners committing crimes here in Thailand. Now for those who are unaware, we are making this video with the background being a recent major shake-up within Thai Immigration. I have recently done a video made contemporaneously with this one wherein I discussed how that major shakeup may have implications for rank and file foreigners looking to live, work and do business here in Thailand because not only are we going to see some heightened scrutiny on foreigners as a result of unfortunately a lot of foreigners seemingly looking to 'behave badly' here in Thailand the last couple of months. Then on top of that, there is just a sort of general air of tension I would argue within the Royal Thai Police at this point, so those two things coupled together are not a great recipe for looking on the foreigners doing business here in Thailand with an air of sort of I hesitate to say Live and let Live because Thais kind of live with a Live and let Live attitude to begin with, but maybe people are a little bit more irritable than they normally would be and that irritability may come through in the scrutiny of foreigners here in Thailand.

That said, I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the Bangkok Post print edition and the article is titled: Tourists Blacklisted After Assault on Cop. I urge those who are watching this video go check that out; you can use the title, go in to Google, you will find it at the Bangkok Post, bangkokpost.com on line. Quoting directly from the print edition, quote: "Deputy National Police Chief Pol Gen Roy Ingpairoj submitted a memorandum to the Immigration Police Chief yesterday to tighten measures to address foreigners committing crimes in the Kingdom."

Again as I discussed in another video, all of this tension that has arisen within the ranks of the Royal Thai Police I think could have ramifications in the form of again the sort of irritability we are talking about with regard to strict scrutiny of foreigners and their activities here in the Kingdom. And this is coming on the heels of a number of recent incidents of foreigners for lack of a better term "Behaving Badly" here in Thailand and it is clear to me that officials in Thailand are taking those issues seriously.

So again something to be mindful of and bear in mind that those looking to do business here in the Kingdom of Thailand are well advised to operate within the parameters of the law, make sure to be in strict compliance with all matters pertaining to things like visas, work authorization, tax, as well as understanding that certain occupations cannot be undertaken by foreigners. Failure to heed those restrictions could result in things like arrest and deportation from the Kingdom of Thailand.
