Thai Official Calls for Visas to Be "More Flexible"?

 Transcript of the above:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing, well it is a topic we quite frequently discuss on this channel, Thai Visas, Thai Immigration. That is one of the main thrusts of this channel so probably this video comes as no great surprise.

I thought of making this video after reading an article in the Thai Examiner that's thaiexaminer.com, the article is titled: Call for flexible visas to boost the economy as exports, output and business confidence falters. A lot going on in there. As usual, Thai Examiner does a very exhaustive look at many aspects associated with this overall issue. I am going to quote a small excerpt here and go ahead because that is the purpose of this video. Quoting directly: "Danucha Pichayanan, the Secretary-general of the National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC), the Government's key economic agency, has called on Ministers to make visa provisions for foreign tourists more flexible and user-friendly while also marketing the Kingdom's legalization of medical Marijuana or pot in a bid to boost the still slow recovery of the country's critical foreign tourism industry." So this is really interesting that somebody who is obviously an Official that deals directly with economic analysis of sort of the overall Thai Economic situation, this person is saying 'hey we need to go ahead and look at relaxing rules, basically making Thai Visas easier.' Now this appears to be focused on the Tourism Sector. So those out there who are on Non-Immigrant Visas, things like Retirement Visas, Business Visas, O Marriage Visas, Education Visas, don't expect this kind of paradigm to have a lot of impact on you because Non-Immigrant Visas are going to kind of remain what they have always been. They are scrutinized, they are not like a Tourist Visa. You are trying to live in Thailand so there is going to be extra scrutiny associated with that.

However, the thing to take away from this video is to understand that look and I think that this is a positive development, Thai Immigration and Officials within the Thai Government especially those who are looking at the economic outlook, are calling for laxity when it comes to Thai Visa's associated with tourism. So hopefully this will lead to substantial benefits as we go through 2023 and hopefully as we get into the high season come the end of 2023.
