Thai Permanent Residence Processing in 2025?
Transcript of the above video:
As the title of this video suggests, we are posing the question, what does the PR process look like in Thailand in 2025? Well the PR process probably will look much the same as it currently does. As we have discussed in other videos, those who are looking to apply for PR, it's often a good idea to go ahead and do that, well start getting ready for it within the first or second quarter of the year in which you are looking to apply. Earlier research is always better for those who are looking into PR.
One big thing that I am seeing moving forward is the likelihood that we will probably start seeing diminishing numbers of Permanent Resident Applications being made, and why is that? Well it's because quite honestly, Thailand has created a lot of new visas including things like the Elite, the so-called Long-term Resident Visa which does not provide Permanent Residence but it's sort of like a really long Tourist Visa; Elite is kind of similar to that. Then we have also got this new Destination Thailand Visa that has come in which may place people into a new type of category that does not place them on track for PR unlike the standard Non-Immigrant Visa categories like the old O Visa, B Visa for example. For example, the Elite Visa does not put one on track for Permanent Residence; another example is the LTR to the best of my knowledge does not put one on track for Permanent Residence; Smart Visas to the best of my knowledge, again very similar. What does that mean?
Well, I think long-term, we are probably going to see less applicants for Permanent Residence here in Thailand. I'm seeing them now quite frankly, because even the changes made within the last year look to me like they are starting to change the overall demand for different types of Immigration work. That being said, those who are on track for PR, doesn't look like there are going to be any major changes although protocols do shift as time goes by. Those who are interested in applying for PR, it may not be a terrible idea to contact a legal professional, gain some insight and guidance into how best to proceed.
