Thai Permanent Residence Processing in 2026?
Transcript of the above video:
As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing Permanent Residence processing in 2026.
I think it's important for me to point out, as of the time of this video, to the best of my knowledge the Permanent Residence window has not opened for applications yet in 2025.
Now for those who might be alarmist about this, we've seen this before. We actually saw it when I believe it was 2014, 2014 going into 2015, the PR window did not open in 2014. For those who recall, in 2014 we had a coup, we had a massive change over in Government and they didn't open the window that year. They did open it early the next year. It was an anomaly, but they did open it ultimately. I would posit, and this is purely speculation on my part, that the political machinations that we've seen throughout the latter half of 2025, and also the recent dissolution of the Parliament and also the calling of the election February 8 may be contributing at least on some level to the PR application window not being opened. And I may be mistaken. It may have opened as of the time of this video; I double checked real quick, and I checked with my staff "have you heard anything?" They said no. It may open in the interim, in the interval between me making this video and this video actually being published, so it might actually open this year. But we're here middle, actually toward the end of December at this point actually, and to the best of my knowledge that window has not opened.
So if I'm being optimistic, I'm hoping that sometime in the next quarter maybe they will open it, or I may be mistaken and it's open already and I'm just ill informed. And if it is, then I think 2026 will go by largely much like 2025 did then with regard to PR. But we may be seeing a situation where we may have an anomalous window opening during the first quarter of the following year due to sort of political volatility happening otherwise in Thailand, similar to what we saw in 2014 and '15.
That being said, it all remains to be seen and to some extent you need to understand there's a level of speculation going on in this video. That being said, we will certainly be keeping you updated on this channel as the situation evolves.
