Thai Police Investigating Foreigners Working Illegally?
Transcript of the above video:
As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing foreigners working illegally here in Thailand. It seems this is flaring up into a major issue on Koh Samui, Koh Phangan and Surat Thani area, down in kind of the southern island part of Thailand.
Let's just jump in. Quoting directly from the Bangkok Post, bangkokpost.com, the article is titled: Police step up nominee holding cases on Koh Samui, Koh Phangan. Quoting directly: "Preliminary findings indicate some Israeli nationals on the islands face multiple charges, including operating car rental businesses, working without permits and conducting tour operations without authorisation. Pol. Lt. Gen. Yingyos said all probes would be conducted transparently, fairly and in accordance with the law."
Yeah, apparently there are issues now in the islands with Israeli nationals specifically who are apparently just completely flouting and disregarding Thailand's laws regarding nominee businesses especially for use in usage of ownership of Thai land, and now there seems to be a lot of issues associated with folks who are just wantonly flouting the rules associated with working in Thailand. If you go back, and I think it's actually mentioned in this article by Bangkok Post - and I urge those who are watching this video, go check out that article for your own edification - but I think it is mentioned in there, one of the other articles I read on this topic because it has been kind of a hot button issue especially this past holiday weekend here in Thailand. They brought up the fact that there was the issue up in Pai that had to do with some Israeli nationals who completely just got really inappropriate in an Emergency Room, basically a medical clinic Emergency Room. At the time, he was Interior Minister, now Prime Minister, Anutin had to go up there; the Israeli Ambassador went up there as well. It was just sort of an unpleasant situation and now it looks like there are more of these issues cropping up down in the islands where these folks are coming and engaging in work they're not qualified to do, they are not able to do due to the restricted occupations and also engaging in like nominee businesses for land ownership, also a big problem here under Thai Law.
That said, it remains to be seen exactly how all this is going to play out, so we will certainly be keeping you updated on this channel as the situation evolves.
