Thai Retirement Visa Confusion: O, O-A, LTR, DTV?

Transcript of the above video:

Boy there has got to be a ton of confusion in the prospective retiree community at the moment regarding Retirement Visas We have got more acronyms in the Thai Immigration space than basically the American intelligence urology between all the DTVs, LTRs O-As, Os, all of this fun stuff, it's kind of hard to make hide nor hair of what's going on with Retirement.

Long story short, depending on your circumstances, different visa categories may provide different benefits. Another good one to throw in there is Elite. Some folks decide to use the Thailand Elite Visa as well, but long story short, each person, their own facts will sort of dictate what one, Visa options they have. For example, folks with a higher net worth may be able to avail themselves of things like the Elite Visa, or the LTR. Meanwhile, generally speaking it's my overall opinion that standard Retirement Visas remain the way to go. When I say that, I mean the O Visa as opposed to the O-A, as the O does not have the insurance requirement that the O-A Retirement Visa does. So for my money, overall I think the O Retirement Visa overall is the best bet. Now that said, again Destination Thailand Visa is talked about as a possible, the DTV is a possible option. In my opinion, for retirees or anyone over 50, not really optimal under those circumstances.

That said, analysis of whether or not an Elite an LTR, an OA or an O Visa is the best option under the circumstances for a retiree or prospective retiree looking to come to Thailand, it's going to depend on circumstances a lot. But that said, at least in my opinion, as of the time of this video, the general rule of thumb is standard O Retirement Visas remain what they have always been which is kind of the standard way of retiring and having lawful status to do so here in the Kingdom of Thailand.
