Thai Tax and Banking Issues Rarely Impact "Retirees Living Out Their Lives"?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing Retirees living out their lives here in the Kingdom of Thailand. I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the Pattaya Mail, that is pattayamail.com, the article is titled: Thai lawyer downplays expat Visa awards versus personal taxation worries. Quoting directly: "One of the biggest loopholes in tax collection is cryptocurrency which can lead to investment fraud, mule accounts and money laundering. For example, traders change currency to stablecoins, then quickly transfer that to a digital asset exchange outside the country and finally change it to cash again. The point here is that these crimes are rarely, if ever, connected to retirees living out their later lives here."

So what's the point?  What are we talking about? The point is they are talking about all this money laundering; they are talking about all this "Oh, we want to capture the taxes and all of this stuff off all this crypto and everything,"  it's causing a lot of consternation and it doesn't, especially in the retiree community as it pertains to their visas and their taxes, and then at the same time, the reality of this is all of these so-called policy changes or these initiatives really are going to impact so few retirees that it is almost not even worth mentioning. I'm not saying it's not relevant but yeah look, the vast majority of retirees are just not going to have a major problem here in Thailand especially those who are on like standard O Retirement Visas and either maintain a lump sum amount here to stay in Thailand, or they have something like Social Security money that they are bringing in. This type of thing is possible but again it's just not, I just don't see the vast majority of retirees having any problems with any of these initiatives that they say are targeting money laundering and things.

The point I am trying to make is the vast majority of this talk regarding tax, banking regulation, tracking, tracing, all of this stuff, I think at the end of the day really just does not pertain directly to most retirees and therefore, most retirees or prospective retirees looking to come out here should probably just ignore this type of, in a way, not ignore it, but recognize it for what it is and set aside this type of information as it does not necessarily pertain to the vast majority of retirees living here in the Kingdom of Thailand.
