Thai Visas for Working and Not Working in Thailand?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing visas for both working and not working in Thailand. I thought initially of making this video after reading a recent article from the Pattaya Mail, that is pattayamail.com, the article is titled: Finance Minister silent on overseas remittances to Thailand. Quoting directly: "Currently, Thailand is Janus-faced as regards foreigners in Thailand. It has in place several work-related visas which minimize taxes, especially for foreigners employed in new technology fields, but also has in place visas to attract those not working within Thailand. These include the new Destination Thailand Visa.." - yeah, as we have discussed, Interior Ministry has said while you may be able to engage remotely with countries outside of Thailand, those who are in Thailand cannot utilize such a visa to work in Thailand - "..the Elite, Long Term Residence and annually renewable Retirement Visas and extensions of stay." As we have discussed in other videos, they are talking about the O and the O-A Retirement Visa.

So, there are different types of visas here in Thailand that have work authorization sometimes attached to them. As I have discussed in other videos, the LTR doesn't notwithstanding the fact that they have often said that they do. Meanwhile the Elite Visa clearly does not and as we have also discussed, the Retirement Visa doesn't, neither does the Destination Thailand Visa. So, what types of visas do allow for work in Thailand?

As we have discussed in other videos, both the standard B Visa, the Business Visa for Thailand, as well as the O Marriage Visa can be utilized as platforms to apply for a Work Permit to be able to work here in the Kingdom. So yeah, there are visas here in Thailand that are available that will allow someone to work in Thailand. Meanwhile there are other visas here in Thailand that are not available, well I should say that are available, but they do not provide work authorization. So there are some sort of gray areas associated with work authorization. For those who feel a little bit overwhelmed about how all this interacts, it may not be a terrible idea to contact a legal professional and gain some insight and guidance into how best to proceed.
